Congratulations to Callie Minor and Catherine Johnson on being named to the A.I.S.A. West All Star Team. They will play November 7th at Kingwood Christian.


AREA TOURNAMENT

October 19, 2009

In the first round of the area tournament, the Lady Pirates defeated Warrior Academy 3-0. In the semi-finals they lost to Marengo Academy 3-1, falling one victory short of advancing to the State Final Four.

The Lady Pirates won the most games of any team in the past 12 years finishing with a 15-6 record.

Congratulations on an outstanding season.


LADY PIRATES LOSE TO SOUTHERN AND DEFEAT WARRIOR

The Lady Pirates closed out the regular season losing to Southern Academy 0-3 and winning 3-0 against Warrior Academy.

VARSITY LOSES AND JV WINS AT SUMTER

The Lady Pirates 10 game win streak was snapped by Sumter Academy 1-3 (19-25, 25-22, 22-25, 13-25). Leading the Pirates were Catherine Johnson serving 18 out of 20 with 6 aces, 6 assists, 6 kills, 11 saves, 2 blocks and Callie Minor serving 8 out of 9 with 2 aces, 2 assists, 8 kills, 5 saves, 1 block. Ann Hamlin served 7 out of 7 and Morgan McCrary served 6 out of 6. Tate Fuller was 15 out of 18 with 2 aces. Record (13-4) Area (8-3 second place)

The Junior High won 2-1 (17-25, 25-20, 16-14). leading servers were Emily Russell 9 out of 9, Hannah Lowe 12 out of 14, Whitney Lowe 6 out of 7, Katie McKinzey 10 out of 13 and Taylor Noland 7 out of 10. Katie McKinzey had 2 aces, 5 kills and 4 saves. Record 5-4


LADY PIRATES SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER

The Lady Pirates swept a doubleheader from Wilcox Academy 3-0 (25-5, 25-10, 25-18) and 3-0 (25-12, 25-7, 25-10) Thursday afternoon. Senior Night was celebrated with the recognition of the seven seniors and their parents; Tate Fuller, Katherine Gilliam, Ann Hamlin, Catherine Johnson, Morgan McCrary, Callie Minor and Sunny Seymer. Statistical leaders: 100% servers were Ann Hamlin 11 out of 11, Morgan McCrary 8 out of 8, Katherine Gilliam 3 out of 3 – Catherine Johnson 41 out of 46 serving with 22 aces, 12 assists, 10 kills and 4 saves –  Callie Minor 24 out of 28 serves with 10 aces, 4 assists, 13 kills, 7 saves and 1 block – Tate Fuller 20 out of 23 serves with 6 aces and 2 kills – Ann Hamlin  3 kills – Sunny Seymer 4 saves – Audrey Cochrane 18 out of 21 serves with 8 aces – Elisabeth Hankins 7 out of 9 serves with 3 aces, 3 kills and 1 block – Harley Lowe 1 save.

The Junior High gained a forfiet because Wilcox did not bring their team.

The Lady Pirates defeated the Warrior Braves 3-0 (25-6, 25-14, 25-11). Every player saw significant playing time in the match. Statistical leaders were: Catherine Johnson 23 out of 25 serving with 8 aces and 7 kills – Audrey Cochrane 17 out of 18 serving with 9 aces – Callie Minor with 4 kills and Tate Fuller with 2 kills.

The Lady Pirates defeated Grace Christian 3-0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-18) pn Thursday. PA had another great serving match at 93.5%. Leading the way statistically were: Catherine Johnson serving 20 out of 31 with 8 aces, 8 kills and 7 saves – Audrey Cochrane 14 out of 14 serving with 9 saves – Tate Fuller 8 out of 9 serving with 6 saves – Callie Minor 8 out of 10 serves with 3 kills – Elisabeth Hankins 13 out of 14 serves with 5 saves – Harley Lowe had 7 saves. Morgan McCrary was 3 out of 3 serving, Anne Hamlin 1 out of 1 and Katherine Gilliam 2 out of 2. Katherine Gilliam and Caitlyn Barnes each had 1 save. Record 10-3 ( Area 5-2)

The Junior High won 2-0 (25-10, 25-21) Emily Russekk was 8 out of 9 serving and Elisabeth Hankins was 7 out of 9. Elisabeth had 4 kills and Katie McKinzey had 3 assists. Record 4-3

  The Lady Pirates defeated Marengo 3-2 (25-9, 24-26, 23-25, 25-13, 15-9). The team had a tremendous serving match, with 101 out of 108 for a 93.5 percentage. Leading statistically were: Audrey Cochrane 28 out 28 serving with 5 aces and 13 saves – Tate Fuller 12 out of 13 serving with 4 assists – Ann Hamlin 9 out of 9 serving with 2 saves – Elisabeth Hankins with 6 kills, 10 assists and 1 block – Callie Minor was 21 out of 23 serving with 5 aces and 11 kills – Catherine Johnson 22 out of 24 serving with 3 aces, 4 assists, 5 kills, 16 saves. Record 9-3  Area record 5-2

The Junior High lost 0-2 (13-25, 18-25). Serving was their strength: Hannah Lowe 3 out of 3, Katie McKinzey 7 out of 8, Elisabeth Hankins 6 out of 7, Anna Cockrell 1 out of 1, Emily Russell 5 out of 5, Taylor Noland 4 out of 5, Reagan Hataway 1 out of 1. Whitney Lowe, Katie McKinzey and Elisabeth Hankins each had 3 saves. The Lady Pirates traveled to Jackson Academy and swept a doubleheader 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-11) and 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 26-24). Statistical leaders were: Catherine Johnson 32 out of 34 serving, 3 aces, 3 assists, 18 kills, 29 saves, 2 blocks - Audrey Cochrane 29 out of 33 serving, 3 aces, 13 saves – Tate Fuller 23 out of 26 serves, 14 saves, 2 blocks – Callie Minor 28 out of 33 serves, 7 aces, 8 assists, 10 kills, 17 saves, 5 blocks – Ann Hamlin 19 out of 20 serves, 3 saves – Harley Lowe 7 saves – Morgan McCrary 4 out of 4 serves. Record: 8-3 (4-2 area)

The Junior Pirates won 2-0 (25-10, 25-10). Katie McKinzey had a great match with 14 out of 14 serving, 8 aces, and 5 kills. Elisabeth Hankins was 6 out of 7 serving with 6 kills. Whitney Lowe was 5 out of 5 serving with 2 saves and Emily Russell 6 out of 6 serving with 2 aces. Hannah Lowe was 13 out of 15 serving with 5 aces. Record 3-2


LADY PIRATES TAKE TWO FROM CORNERSTONE

The Lady Pirates swept a doubleheader from Cornerstone on Thursday 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-16, 25-19) and 3-1 (25-18, 25-22, 18-25, 25-16). Callie Minor served 19 out of 27 with 8 aces,  26 kills, 15 saves, and 6 assists. Tate Fuller served 27 out of 31 wth 4 aces, 5 kills and 10 saves. Catherinre Johnson served 39 out of 46 with 13 aces, 16 assists, 11 kills and 19 saves. Audrey Cochrane served 31 out of 34 and had 12 aces and 10 saves. Elisabeth Hankins served 21 out of 27 with 5 aces, 6 kills and 14 saves. Ann Hamlin served 19 out of 20 and Harley Lowe had 5 saves.

The Junior High won 2-0 (25-15, 25-9).  Emily Russell was 6 out of 6 on serves and Hannah Lowe was 9 out of 11 serving with 3 aces. Elisabeth Hankins was 10 out of 12 serving with 7 aces, 2 kllls and 4 saves. Katie McKinzey had 3 kills.  Whitney Lowe had 3 aces.
